CHRISTOPHER KANE

Christopher Kane (born 26 July, 1982) is a Glasgow-born London-based fashion designer, who graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2006.

Kane was born as the youngest of five children in Newarthill, near Motherwell, in North Lanarkshire to an engineer and draughtsman and housewife mother.
While still in college, Kane worked for fellow designers Russell Sage and Giles Deacon and attracted the attention of Donatella Versace by winning the LancĂ´me Colour Award in 2005. Kane subsequently won the Harrods Design Award for his MA Graduate collection, consisting of £1,500 and a showpiece window in Harrods from February 24 to March 8 2006. The collection consisted of stretch-lace dresses decorated with brass rings. He was immediately hired by Versace to work on the label's Atelier couture collection as well as consulting on shoes and accessories.

In December 2006 Kane was photographed by David Bailey for British Vogue alongside Antony Price, whose 1980's bombshell evening dresses and curvaceous feminine styles foreshadowed Kane's bandage-tight tailoring.
Kane established his own-name label in 2006, with his sister, Tammy Kane, who studied at the Scottish College of Textile Design, running the financial side of the business and also assisting in his fabric creation and design process. His first independent show, presented on 20th September 2006, consisted of super-short bandage dresses in neon shades. Kane said of his collection that he " only used neon last year because it was [his] first collection and I wanted to go as bright as possible." The collection was lauded by prominent international fashion critics and credited by various sources as a major contributor to summer 2007's 'fluoro' trends. In April 2006, Kane was awarded the Young Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards. Subsequently, the designer launced a capsule collection for British high-street clothing store Top Shop.

His second collection, show cased on 13th February 2007, once again received positive reviews from leading critics. Moving away from his signature tight-fitted look, Kane showcased a collection of velvets and leathers in a more relaxed silhouette. This was also his first collaboration with prominent shoe designer Manolo Blahnik, who created the shoes for the show.
Kane collaborations extend into music, whereby he designed costumes for Kylie Minogue's music video 2 Hearts. On 18th October 2007, he collaborated with Beth Ditto for luxury label Swarovski's Fashion Rocks show held at the Royal Albert Hall to critical acclaim. In addition to designing his own label and consulting at Versace, he is also part of Atlier Swarovski, a small collective of designers who create special jewellery collections for Swarovski.

On 10th September 2007, days before Kane was scheduled to show his third collection, it was reported that 23 pieces from the Spring-Summer 2008 show had been stolen from his London studio. In addition to cashmere and leather pieces, a laptop was also stolen. No fingerprints were found upon inspection. However, the designer proceeded his third show and second collaboration with Blahnik seven days later on 17th September 2007, once again changing directions and introducing snake skin printed chiffon and denim in yet another collection that won rave reviews.
On 27th November 2007, he was awarded New Designer of The Year at the British Fashion Awards. Kane has also been credited for single-handedly turning the fortunes of cashmere producer Johnstons of Elginby partnering with the company to produce his line of cashmere garments.

Known to be a passionate promoter of his home country, the designer was appointed as an ambassador for VisitScotland in January 2008. He celebrated Burns Night by showcasing a special trunk show of his Spring-Summer 2008 collection as well as hosting an exclusive party at Harvey Nichols the ambassador for VisitScotland. Furthering his role, Kane collaborated with Lancome to create a limited edition Juicy Tube lip gloss. The finished product, called Burns Night, is a tangerine colour with a beautiful illustration printed on the tube along with Kane's signature and was launched in February 2008.
On 12th February 2008, the designer showcased his fourth collection which departed again from his previous themes. Featuring dresses of layered organdy and plastic sequins, cable woven cashemere tops and dresses along with heavily embellished jackets, the show was greeted with similar praise from fashion critics.

On 16th September 2008, Kane showcased his fifth collection, this time building upon his previous theme of circular sequins which "had grown into even bigger circles of chiffon and leather that rippled like scales around the models or created scalloped contours down their bodies to oscillating – and very short – hemlines." Inspired by "Planet of the Apes" and "The Flintstones", it was met with similar praise from fashion critics.

VENTURI VOLTAGE CONCEPT

The Venturi Voltage concept, the result of a collaboration with Venturi Automobiles and Michelin (which premiered at the Mondial 2008 Paris Motor show)marks a major step foward in the evolution of the automobile. This new Venturi incorporates innovations which have enabled radical changes in terms of vehicle's architecture, style and dynamic behaviour and, more generally, the design of a modern vehicle.

The Voltage boasts a long list of innovation which consists of killer featurettes such as a 4 drive wheel that incorporates 2 electric motors per wheel (1 for suspension and 1 for drive)a total of 8 electric motors, a dashboard touchscreen that the driver can configure as he wishes, and carbon fiber body works which carries batteries within its very structure (being that the Venturi is an electric car).

acute fresh LOVES CASSIE

Cassandra Ventura (born August 26, 1986), known by her stage name Cassie, is an American model, R&B and pop singer, and occasional actress. She is best known for her single "Me & U" , which became a hit in 2006. Cassie was born in St.Louis, Missouri, to a Filipino father and a African American/West Indian/Mexican mother which she confirmed in August/September 08' issue of Complex. Cassie graduated from The Williams School, a preparatory school in New London, Connecticut. When she completed high school in 2004, she announced that she would pursue her career in modeling and singing, foregoing college. At age nineteen, Cassie began her career as a model. Represented by Wilhelmina Models, she appeared in print ads for Delia's, Adidas, Abercrombie & Fitch, Seventeen and appeared in a commercial for Clean and Clear, in a swimsuit spread; and was on the prime billboard space in Times Square for the Target Corporation. Cassie is also a spokesmodel for the Sean John women's collection, along with Lauren London; which Diddy said would be released in July 2007.She is also signed to 1/One Management in New York City. After high school, Cassie moved to New York City and continued modelling; as well attending classes at the Broadway Dance Center. Meanwhile, music producer Ryan Leslie spotted her at clubs and parties in late 2004 frequently. Shortly after a formal introduction to Ryan Leslie, Cassie became the focus of NextSelection. The two wrote a duet called "Kiss Me" and after recording the track, Next Selection made a management move to play the song for music executive Tommy Mottola. Leslie also co-wrote and produced Cassie's first single, "Me & U". Cassie was introduced to Sean "Diddy" Combs by a make-up artist from one of her modeling assignments which helped her to get a shot at a music career.

Before signing with Bad Boy, Cassie's first single, "Me & U", had already hit the airwaves and was a major hit in dance clubs. On its official release, "Me & U" proved to be a hit song. It reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and number four on the Billboard Pop 100. Her follow up single, "Long Way 2 Go" was far less successful, peaking at ninety-seven on the Billboard Hot 100. Cassie's debut album, Cassie, was released on August 8, 2006 and sold 321,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. In contrast to her album sales, Cassie's hit single, "Me & U", sold over 1 million digital downloads. To promote her album, Cassie performed on Total Request Live and 106 & Park: BET's Top 10 Live. Her performances were described as "rocky" and "less-than-stellar", but Diddy said that it was due to her inexperience. He said that he would be "with her through her development", and that he has no "question on her ability [to sing]". Cassie addressed the events on her MySpace page, saying that she is aware that her performances were "pretty bad," and that she was "still getting over stage fright".

MTV News reported in June 2007 that contrary to rumors, Cassie had not been dropped from Bad Boy Records after only releasing two singles from her album, and would be working with producers Kanye West and Pharrell Williams on her second album. In January 2008, Billboard magazine reported that her album is scheduled for release in June 2008, and includes production work from Ryan Leslie, Swizz Beatz, Bryan Michael Cox, Rodney Jerkins and Kanye West. Cassie's album has been confirmed to be released in early 2009 by Bad Boy Records. The first single from the album, "Official Girl", has a video and digital release with rapper, Lil Wayne on August 5, 2008 and was released to radio on September 16th, 2008.Cassie has said that her new album will demonstrate more "independence"; there will be a "difference in vocals, a little bit more personality. And it's definitely a sensual album." She said that she was able "to work with different people and learn what their habits were and what works well with me."

Cassie made an appearance in Jay-Z's music video for "Roc Boys" from his album American Gangster, and provided background vocals. She also made a cameo appearance in Kanye West's music video for "Stronger" from his album Graduation.
